Today I would like to start a new feature on Mommies Point of View as it is Summer soon.

As a mom there is so many places I would Love to take my son as I was not able to with Suzzane and so since we do not have a lot of money for a vacation we do staycations and so I thought it would be fun to do a virtual vacation section.

We can pick a city to visit and go through the website and pick stuff we would like to do if we where able to visit it.

So this week I thought we would start with the

Smoky Mountains - Gatlinburg, TN - Gaaknburg, Tennessee - Gatlinburg Chamber of Commerce.
Have you ever been here?  Do you live there?

Take a look through there  website and let me know what you would visit if you where going to travel there.

Remember I am a mom of a 4 and 1/2 year old and so I need to find places that are kid friendly.

I also would like to take my pets.

Who would you take?

How long would you stay?

Would you like a Hotel or a Bed and Breakfast?

I think with Charlie and a dog I would choose a hotel although its always been my dream to stay in a bed and breakfast.

So lets met back her tomorrow and share what all we found to do and where we would stay.

Glenda, Charlie, David

Today I wanted to share a site I found with you.

Submit Your WAHM Story | Wahm Options

As a business owner it is not easy to find places where you can share your business and so when I found this one I knew I would need to share it with all of my readers.

The item I Love is that you can submit a work at home story and it will be published for free.

So not only is it a work at home site but it offers you a way to be seen for free.

So no matter what type of business you have Please check it out.

Before you ask yes you can share your blog on there as well.

Update on Charlies Weekend Sleepover

I wanted to let you know that Charlie got home last night about 8
after stopping off for icecream which he also brought to me. He was so
excited to tell me all about his day. Although he could not stop
asking when his dad would be home. You could tell he and the puppy
missed each other as they would not leave each other alone.

When Charlie got out and grabbed his things he told his Aunt bye and I
Love you and I will see you next weekend. Before he had even gotten
home they had made plans for him to spend the night again next
weekend.

So I guess you have it folks my son is growing up.

So next Saturday he and I are going to meet my sister at the Skating
Rink by my house for a birthday party and then when it is over he will
go home with her.

I am telling you I think I created a monster.

Although I am glad he gets to go I miss him so much.

So now I am on the look out for some cute children's pajamas and a
Bible and a suitcase.

Which sites online would you suggest I look for for these types of items?

Teaching Charlie His ABC's What Is The Best Way

Source: Uploaded by user via Jonathan on Pinterest

Charlie and David and I have been sitting down working with him on his

ABC's and numbers now for a while as we had taken him out of school

for a bit as the funds where not there to pay for it. But I see that
he is wanting to learn as he is always asking questions and this last
week he wants to count everything. Which I am thinking is a good sign.
So today I thought while he was over at my sisters I would look around
and put together some stuff we can work on next week.

Since I have never taught anyone this young I was thinking I would

start with the letter A and work on it for at least two weeks. To
Charlie though a A is a tee pee as he says this is what it looks like.

I figured I would try and cook some foods that start with A's as well

like apples and applesauce. Do you have any another suggestions on
things we can cook? I figure this is also a good way to get him to try
foods he would not normally eat and that we can get him to help us
prepare them.

I am also thinking of things he can do in the house that starts with

A's so he sees how it all ties in.

So if you have any suggestions on chores that start with the letter A

please let me know.

Then another question I have is should I just work on the letter A or

is it ok to add in a number like 1 or will this confuse him?

So Please if you have a toddler and you work with them at home help me here.

Do you have sites you would suggest?

What do you think about the worksheets I found below? Are these good

ones to start with?

Do you let your children work on the computer and if so which sites do

you use and why? Which ones do you stay away from and why?

Do you have any shows on TV or DVDs that you think I should look into?

Read Jess C. Scott's guest post and get to know her a little better!

The following is a guest post by author Jess C. Scott. Her latest book, The Other Side of Life, tells the story of a thieving duo who’s world turns upside down when an Elven rogue uncovers the heinous dealings of a megacorporation. The genre of this book is a mixed of urban fantasy, cyberpunk and YA with adult crossover appeal. It is recommended for adults or young adults seeking cyberpunk themes (not hardcore sci-fi), and a love story (not fluffy romance).

I will be offering a book review and giveaway from May 15th until May 30th. Write it down in your calendars and make sure you check back in during those dates to get in on the action!  All the details will be announced then! In the meantime, you can read Jess C. Scott's guest post and get to know her a little better!

The Real Dystopia

Mark Twain defined a literary classic as “a book which people praise and don’t read.”

I’ve enjoyed reading classics since I was sixteen years old (a Poe anthology had me completely mesmerized!). I read George Orwell’s 1984 during my early 20s, and it’s by far one of the best books I’ve ever read.

1984 can be considered a classic cyberpunk and dystopian novel.

Cyberpunk can be defined as a genre that “is about expressing (often dark) ideas about human nature, technology and their respective combination in the near future.” (Cyberpunk Review)

Dystopia can be defined as: “An imaginary place or state in which the condition of life is extremely bad, as from deprivation, oppression, or terror.” (The Free Dictionary)

I was talking to a friend from the U.K. recently, who had this to say about commercialism:

“Wow! I never knew about Battle Royale. To be honest, I hated The Hunger Games without knowing anything about it. Partly it was because I kept seeing it in the Kindle best seller charts. I assumed it was just some badly written self-published garbage that had been hyped on Twitter. But I see now it has been hyped everywhere and has big money behind it.

These big companies are businesses first and foremost. Stories are product. The ones they pick up are largely irrelevant. The marketing campaign is the main thing. Well, in fact the return on capital is the main thing. The marketing campaign is the way to achieve that. The product is just one small piece in the corporate plan.

I have always been put off by commercialism in any media. In fact I’m prejudiced against commercially successful things. Too much trash is touted as worth our while. Journalists desperate for readers jump on any bandwagon they can. Things are famous because they are famous and not because of any intrinsic merit. This is truer now than it’s ever been.”

I think it’s scary how “dystopia” itself has become a marketing label. I think it’s scary when people trash classic books as being “for pretentious people” only, while they praise modern-day bestsellers as being superior to classic books because “these books were more popular” than classic texts that (1) had some amount of depth to them, and (2) have stood the test of time. I think it’s scary how quality doesn’t seem to matter anymore, because some people see the ‘elite’ as being ‘elitist’.

Crass commercialism and corporate greed often go hand in hand. This is the real dystopia, where hype replaces meaning, where mediocrity is celebrated over something original and substantial, all in the name of profits. After all, how good can something really be if it can be replaced by another manufactured franchise in the next 5-10 years?

Keep that in mind when the next hyped franchise comes around :)!

My Sons First Sleepover, Not Sure How I Feel

Today as I sit her in front of the computer working, I keep looking at the door.
 You see I took Charlie
over to my sister's.
Charlie  wanted to spend the night and go to Church in the morning.

Only Charlie  has been gone less than a hour and I want to run right over
there and grab him and say no you can not spend the night but that is not fair to them.

They need to spend time together as my daughter and my sister where inseparable.

 I would like
this to be the way it is between my sister and my son.

Only  I hate to be away from him for even a minute.

Is this way know how I am going to feel  with him going to school?

You would think I would be happy as I have the whole house to myself.

I can take a nice long bath and read with out stopping every 5
                                  seconds to answer a question.

                                  Plus I can work.

                                  Only  I would rather he
be here driving me up the wall.

Do your children have sleepovers and do you feel this way when they are gone?

Thanks Glenda, Charlie and David

Today I would like to share with you something that happened in my own home

I am a big sister to my sister who is 8 years younger than me and also my brother who is 4 years younger than me.

When I was grown I moved out of my parents home into my grandmothers as she was sick and needed help.

I Thank God I did move but I also feel guilty that I did as I found out years later that my brother tried to abuse my sister sexually and my parents did nothing about it.

I should have kept a closer look on her as he tried things with me as well and I was never comfortable in my own home and this is why I left.

My sister thinks my mom knew but ignored it which is not right.

I thought it was only with my brother but my sister says our cousin also tried to do things with her and so she helped me make sure it never happened to my daughter.

But still what can I do to make this go away?

National Child Abuse Prevention Month: Get Involved #VetoViolence

So I wanted to share this post with you and ask you to keep your eyes and ears open and help others.

If you think someone you know is facing any of this Please get them some help.

I would hate for you to have to go through what my family did.

Today I would like to share these tips I found on "Nap Is My Time"

You see my House never looks like this even though I wished it did.

I could say it is because I am the mom of a 4 1/2 year old or that it is because I run a business from the house but it is not any of those reasons.

It is because I have no space in this house at all.

My apartment is less than 500 square feet.

It makes me fell like I am always walking all over things.

All we have is a living room and kitchen and office in one room.

The rest room and Charlie's room.

So as you can see there is not only no space its crowded and so I am always looking for ways to get it not only organized but clean as well and when I saw this article and the refrigerator I just wanted to sit down and cry.

Only instead of crying I am going to take her steps and work on them one at a time and hopefully I can get it clean and will not be embarrassed to have people come in.

"I've been participating in your program since 1999 (although it really doesn't seem that long)! I've gotten a lot of great rewards over the years, but I had to write and tell you about this one. Thanks to your program I was able to save up enough Points for a $50 Lowe's gift card. Another family member did the same and when I coupled those gift cards with my Christmas money, I was able to get a Shark Navigator Pro vacuum for free! Not only is it a thrill to have this fabulous new vacuum, but it's an even bigger thrill knowing that I didn't have to pay any of my own money out of pocket! I'll think of MyPoints every time I vacuum. Thanks!"
