Here is a couple of the Homeschooling Blogs I chose to follow.

Today I wanted to share the food blogs I found that I will be following.

In the challenge I am doing this week I mentioned I wanted to find some food blogs to follow as I would like to start a food and recipe section on the new blog. I also would like to set up a coupon section. So when I was looking around I found the following sites and thought you might enjoy seeing them as well

Photo: If your kids are like my kids, they love to eat gummy candy! Althought my kids don't get it too often, I try to keep a balanced diet for them! But when they do, they love to make it! In this picture we used car's for a mold!

GUMMY CANDY

Ingredients:

3 envelopes unflavored gelatin
2 packages Jell-O, any flavor
1 cup water
1/2 package Kool-Aid, any flavor

Preparation:

1. Prepare an 8x8-inch pan by spraying it lightly with cooking spray. Alternately, you can use sprayed candy molds to make gummy shapes.

2. Place the water in a small saucepan over medium-high heat and bring to a boil.

3. Immediately add the Jell-O, Kool-Aid, and gelatin and stir vigorously until it has all dissolved.

4. Pour the candy into the prepared pan, or spoon it into the prepared molds. Place in the refrigerator to set for approximately 20 minutes.

5. Candy can be cut into worms, squares, or shapes using cookie cutters.

To make a sugar-free candy, substitute sugar-free Jell-O.

Mommies POV

I went to the library and I checked out Wordpress for Dummies and I Goggled it and I did find out it is plugins but my computer is not letting me do this so tomorrow once my helper gets her she and I will do this.

I also need to work on deleting some of the categories.  Stephanie is doing this early tomorrow.

Plus put up a advertising page. I also will be working on this this evening.

I also need to learn how to do buttons and banners. With the Dummies for wordpress and also my Mom Blogging For Dummies Stephani and I are going to tackle this in the morning.

Mommies Point of View

Review The Big Book of Pick and Draw Activities

Here is another site Charlie and I found and will be using the products from it in our home school. This is going to go along with his art classes I am having David do with him. I like the fact that there is a book to go along with the cards. I can read to Charlie out of the book which covers reading while Charlie and David use the cards. I think we will also use this on our game nights with the other kids in our apartment complex as it will help them think and see that God is important to grown ups as he mentions him on the back of the book.
I love that with this game it teaches Charlie to use his imagination and it has brought Charlie and David closer. Plus it has shown David there is things he can do to help Charlie with school work as he struggles with reading and refuses to try.  I can tell you I think these items would make nice gifts. I would like to find then in my local library as I think more parents and children would use them when they are home schooling.
Even though I am no good at drawing I have had fun making up different people with Charlie. I also have gone over the different shapes on the cards as eyes can be slanted and mouths can be oval. I also have shown him hair can be like o;s so there is lots of ways we can use these in our school

The Big Book of Pick and Draw Activities

Pick and Draw is a fun, one-of-a-kind drawing game that teaches you how to make very creative cartoon faces. It is simple and easy to use providing endless hours of fun and learning. In five minutes or less you will know how to play!
Pick and Draw can be played by one or more people and is an excellent way to engage in creative and imaginitive thinking. This makes "success" possible, providing a good kind of confidence to encourage continued learning.
Best of all, it’s a lot of fun!
Pick and Draw is not a gimmick… and yes,it only costs $10!

God has made every person an artist of some kind.

Review Woolzies

I am someone who does not mind using Dryer Sheets but I do not like some of the ingredints in them. So when I found Woolzies and I found that they are made of items that would not harm my family I knew I would have to try them out. I am so glad I did. They work so well. I think they would make nice gifts for people who prefer to use "GREEN' items. I like that they last for 1,000 loads as this allows me to save money. Knowing it stops clothes from wrinkling is also a plus as I hate to iron. If I could I would throw my iron out the door but it is hard as David's uniforms have to be ironed. But David is good and will iron them so I do not have to. See I do have a good man. Most of the time. LOL I also like that they reduce drying time as this also cuts down on the bills in my household. Knowing they are hypoallergenic is also a plus.
So if you have not heard of Woolzies Please check them out at http://www.woolzies.com/faqs.htm In the box I received there where 6 balls and so I shared them with some of my friends and family and they all liked them as much as I did. When the Holidays come around I may purchase Woolzies as a gift as they offer 3 different shades of wrapping paper which means one less gift for me to wrap. If you like to shop online they even take Paypal which I like.

http://www.woolzies.com/images/gift-wrapping.gif

Another thing I liked knowing is that they ship worldwide.

Welcome to the official site for Woolzies, the all natural fabric softener. Woolzies are pure handmade New Zealand wool dryer balls that soften your laundry naturally without any of the chemicals of conventional fabric softeners. Unlike the plastic dryer balls, they are PVC free and won't fall apart or melt on you. Woolzies save time and energy by cutting down on drying time by an average of 25% per load. They also help reduce static and wrinkles.
Use Woolzies to snuggle up with naturally downy soft laundry that's completely free of harmful chemicals. Woolzies are also hypo-allergenic and totally safe for people with wool sensitivities as they will not shed onto your laundry.
Unlike even natural dryer sheets and liquid fabric softeners, Woolzies last for 1,000 loads and are therefore extremely eco friendly. So why risk your health and waste your money with regular fabric softeners when you can save time, energy and money with all natural pure Woolzies!

Review Vinyl Disorder

With Suzzane being gone I always wanted something on car that would remind others of her and so when I was on Google I found Vinyl Disorders and found some wonderful memory stickers. I knew once I saw all the different ones that I would like to see if I would be able to work with them. When they allowed me to I was so happy.

Today the item I chose arrived and I feel in love with it.It fits Suzzane to a "T". I got the pink saying Angel with wings. I let them chose the size that would fit best on my car and I am so glad I did as it looked perfect when I went and put it on there.

I can not wait until my sister comes down to visit as I know she is going to want one as well. So know I know for Christmas next year I am going to get both her and my nephew one for there cars. As my nephew misses Suzzane just as much as I do. Even though they where only cousins they where closer than most sisters and brothers.

If I had not gotten the Angel then I would have bought the butterfly. Since I always like to be different from everyone I may keep the Angel one I received and for my family I may buy the Butterfly for there cars.

In Loving Memory

If you have never visited Vinyl Disorder you should as they not only carry these items but T Shirts as well.

Once David and I get the new furniture and decide if we are moving to a new apartment or are staying in this one I am going to get some signs like this one as I like the way they may the apartment look and I do not have to paint it or even know how to draw as they do all of this for me. http://site.vinyldisorder.com/images/home/wall-quotes-decals-sm.jpg

The site is so easy to use and everyone is so helpful that I plan on shopping with them from now on.

Review Kelly Kits

With Charlie and I doing school at home I am always looking for new items we can use in our school lessons. So when I was online looking for sites we could purchase items from I found Kelly Kits. I am so glad I did as I am not good at doing crafts and this helps us with that. I know in kindergarten Charlie will not have to do much other than coloring and learning to stay in lines but with him not being able to attend school this year I did not want him to be behind. So with these crafts they help with a lot of the things I worry about.

The kit we where sent from Kelly Kits is called Frosty Frescos and I like it as it allows Charlie to paint. I liked that as this is one of Charlies favorite things to do when we do art projects.

With this kit I was able to get David to help him as I had David draw the picture and I let Charlie color it then we all put the salt on the picture like it asked.

This was nice as school work is not something David enjoys but with the Kelly Kits I know he would not mind helping out as he enjoys art and it would take something off me which would be nice.

I like that the kit came with a book that explains how to do everything and that it offers helpful hints. It even allowed me to teach Charlie some science facts and since I did not even think of teaching Charlie science this was nice.

Knowing Kelly kits can be a monthly subscription was nice as I can let his grandparents and aunt and uncle know about it and they can pick certain months to purchase the kits for. Or David and I could pay for them at Christmas and allow it to be a gift for his Stocking. I know I could see Santa deliver these to our house.

if your child is having a Birthday and you are stuck on what type of party to host then you should check out the Birthday Kits at
http://www.kellykits.com/kelly-kit-birthday-party-packs/
I wish I had none about this when Charlie was having his Birthday party as it would have made a nice addition to the games we played. Plus it would work for both boys and girls.

I like knowing Kelly Kits has a daily deal and also offers free kits on Facebook and so if you have not had the chance to check out Kelly Kits you should check them out at https://www.kellykits.com/checkout

Each Kelly Kit comes with children’s art activities that cover the art world’s five disciplines: Drawing, Printmaking, Sculpture, Collage, and Painting.
Included with each Kelly Kit activity is an instruction card. Although, we remind our little artists that they only have to follow the rules, not the directions!
Letting your child explore the materials with their hands and engage all of their senses is a big part of the Kelly Kits experience.
Try not to encourage coloring within the lines, or any other guidelines you may like to keep to as an adult. Rewarding the artist for his or her own truly unique creation will be very beneficial!
For homeschooling parents and adults, each instruction card comes with an enrichment idea to turn the art activity into art curriculum!

If you would like to know about there upcoming events then Please watch this video http://youtu.be/ZrgEQ2Y3rSw

New Linky Making Friends online!!

Today is a grey muggy drab day!!

But it is OK. David has finally gotten to return to work. None of us are sick right now. Thank you Jesus. I joined the Blog Challenge this weekend. So Charlie and I are hanging out at home. Where waiting on David to get home as I need to run to the library and also to the store. Once I get back I will start on the challenges I set for myself. In the meantime Charlie and I watched Rocky. Then we did some school work. Today I looked online for some games for us to play and I found several new sites for us to check out next week. In the meantime we are still working on his numbers and ABC's. I also have him write his name and numbers and ABC"s every evening before we do story time. Not having a printer sometimes hinders us but we plug along and do what we can. If you are homeschooling your child and there are either in kindergarten or pre school what are you working on this week? Is there any sites you use you would like to share with us?

Winter Blogathon 2013 Kickoff

Winter Blogathon 2013 Kickoff!

The Blogathon Has Officially Started!!
If by chance you are just stumbling upon this site because you saw someone else participating, don’t worry you can still join in! Sign up here, then come back to this post.
For those already signed up, WELCOME! Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening (depending on where you live)

What To Do First – Your Kick Off Post

First things first, you need to do a kick off post to let the world know you are participating (and perhaps draw in some new people) and to be eligible for prizes! Just make a post on your blog linking to the blogathon, perhaps including the button and a short explanation of what it is, why you joined and what you would like to get accomplished. You can introduce yourself and your blog too if you want. If you have more than one blog, you can either do a kick off post on each or just mention and link to your other blogs on your one kick off post, it’s up to you!
When your kick off post is done, come back here and add it to the linky at the END of the post.

Where To Find Important Info

You can find all the relevant posts and pages linked at the top left sidebar at all items during the blogathon. Included up there is the list of Mini Challenges, List of Prizes and how to make sure you are eligible (so check that post out for sure!), Twitter Party Info and Signup and links to any updates from this blog.

Stay Connected

Remember you can tweet using the #blogathon2 hashtag and also keep up with what the rest of us are doing. Also use the facebook group to chat and meet other bloggers, ask questions, ask for support etc.  Also feel free to visit other participating bloggers (from the kick off linky below as it fills up) and comment on their posts with encouragement.

Be Prepared!

I hope you read the Blogathon Prep series but if you didn’t, you can still check it out and implement the things now, before you get started. At the very least…
  1. Tidy up your area – clutter impedes concentration
  2. Have a stock of your favourite snacks and drinks and make arrangements for meals (slow cooker, order, someone else makes it etc.)
  3. If you have kids and weren’t able to get a babysitter, pick out some special activities they don’t regularly do to keep them busy.
  4. Have a notepad and pen handy along with your to-do list/goals list.

Let’s Kick Off!

Use the linky below to link to your kick off post. You need to leave the direct link or permalink to your post (not your main blog url.) If you don’t know how to do this, I have a new post on Permalinks.
NOTE: Where it says NAME, leave your BLOG NAME, not your first name.

Home school with You Tube

Did you know that Charlie and I can use You Tube in the morning, when we get up, to do school? You might say how can You Tube work with home school and I would like to share with you how. We do this through the videos that Charlie and I find on You Tube such as the ones below. You can also find books from different children authors to share with your children if you do not have time to sit down and read to them.  Today Charlie and I listened to The Wheels On The Bus the link to that video is below. Then we found a video on shapes and also one on ABC's. Then for fun we listened to Horton Hears A Who as both Charlie and I love elephants. If you would like to buy me something for my birthday just buy me a baby elephant and I would be so happy.

Plant Multi use Dishwashing

Today I would like to share with you a new Dishwashing Product I was able to try out thanks to Planet. I liked knowing it was "Green" as this means it is safe for my family. Once it arrived and I tried it out I could tell this would be something I would not mind sharing with others. It did such a wonderful job on the dishes. They where not left greasy and it did not take a whole lot to clean them. Since several of my friends are into only "Green" products I share the bottle with them and they all said they would like to try more of there items out. So we went online to Planet wesbite which is at http://www.planetinc.com/index.html  and once there we saw they now offer a online store which we where all so excited about. As this means we can shop from the comfort of our homes which is nice when we all have small children.  One of the products I can not wait to try it is there laundry soap if it is as good as the Dishwashing Liquid then I know I will be using it all the time.  With Planet I do not even mind when Charlie ask to wash the dishes as I know it contains no harmful ingredients.

Planet Ultra Dishwashing Liquid

Directions for Use

Dish Washing:  Dispense the detergent into your wash basin and start filling the basin with warm water. Half a teaspoon of detergent (about one brief squeeze) is sufficient to start with. Swish the water around to work up some suds, then start washing your dishes. It is most economical to use small amounts of detergent and add more detergent when the suds are almost gone.

Did you know...

...that liquid dish detergent is a very versatile cleaner?
Generally, specialized cleaners are the best choice for specific jobs. However if you find yourself without the appropriate specialty cleaner, liquid dish detergent is a good second choice for a wide range of cleaning jobs. So remember, even though liquid dish detergent is the cleaner of choice for dishes, it is also a good backup for many other cleaners.

Fruit & Vegetable Wash:  Use Planet Ultra Dishwashing Liquid as a fruit & vegetable wash to help remove waxes, dirt and pesticides. Use several drops of detergent mixed in a large bowl of cold water. Submerse your fruits and vegetables in the water and let them soak for about a minute. Swish leafy vegetables around to loosen dirt and use a soft cloth or brush on firm fruits. Plastic scour pads work well on potatoes. Rinse thoroughly and pat the fruit and vegetables dry.
Car Wash:  Use Planet Ultra Dishwashing Liquid to wash your car. Mix one teaspoon of detergent (about one firm brief squeeze) with warm or cool water in a large bucket. First rinse your car with plain water, then use a soft sponge and wash with the detergent water. Rinse your car thoroughly with water before the detergent dries. Never pour the detergent directly onto your car.
Pet Shampoo:  Use Planet Ultra Dishwashing Liquid to wash your cat or dog. First wet your pet's fur with warm water, then apply a small amount of detergent. Work up a thick lather and then thoroughly rinse your pet's fur until it is lather free.

Cleaning Tips

  • DO NOT use Ultra Dishwashing Liquid in automatic dishwashers, as standard dishwashing liquid produces too much suds and can cause your dishwasher to overflow.
  • If your method for tackling those really dirty dishes is to squirt some extra detergent directly onto your wash cloth or scouring pad before scrubbing, then you're likely using far more detergent than is necessary. It is better to let dishes and pans that have baked or dried on food soak first. Then you'll need less detergent (and less elbow grease!) once it comes time to scrub.
  • You will generally get better results by washing your less greasy dishes first, like glasses and silverware, followed by your more greasy items like plates, and then lastly your pots and pans.
  • Planet Ultra Dishwashing Liquid is safe to use on crystal and over-glazed china.

Did you know...

...that Planet Ultra Dishwashing Liquid works outdoors?
Because Planet Ultra Dishwashing Liquid is 100% biodegradable, it is safe to use outdoors and is ideal for situations like camping and boating. Use it sparingly in salt water, warm or cold, to clean dishes, clothing, and yourself! However, freshwater mountain lakes and streams are delicate, so you should not use any soap directly in them. Instead, do your washing and rinsing at least 200ft (80 adult steps) away. This will allow soil microbes to easily filter and break down your biodegradable, phosphate-free Planet Ultra Dishwashing Liquid before it reaches the water.
