Boy and Toys and Organizing and Decluttering the Play Room.

My son is 3 1/2 and I can tell you he must have more toys than any 10 kids put together as he gained his sisters who is no longer here and also my nephews cars and his uncles collection as well.

So to clean our play room is never fun as the cars and trains have seemed to explode everywhere.

But I can tell you since this is my second time with a child I am better at cleaning and making sure everything  is where it should be.

We use a shelf built along the top of the wall for all of his collectibles and also his books and pictures of him.

When he wants to look at something from there he has to ask.

His trains are all in containers under the train table and are not allowed out of the playroom at any time. His conductor outfit is hung on a nail right above it.

All of his hot wheels are in an over the door shoe hanger and they are put in three times a day as he has to clean his room before lunch, dinner and bedtime this way we are able to start each day fresh.

Then we have a book shelf for his book and coloring books that he is allowed to get down to look at.

Play dough, crayolas and markers and art supplies as well as games are all inside the closet in totes on the top shelf.

Any stuffed animals are on another shelf that goes around his room.

He has a toy box that holds his cars he is allowed to take outside and they are checked daily for broken parts and cleaned and put away because as a boy he loves to play in the mud.

We have all of his big trucks lined up under his bed and he is allowed to only get one out at a time.

Then we have all of his monster trucks in a basket and he can bring it to the front room as long as he takes it back to his room.

In his room he has a 2 man pup tent that we sometimes take naps in or we do school work in or just go and hide and it has to be cleaned out everyday and there is a couch in it and his blankets and he has to make the cot in it and pick up any toys or books and put them back up or the tent will be taken down.

So, all in all we do have his room pretty clean but like any mom we go through the toys on a monthly basis to discard broken toys and to get rid of broken toys or things he does not play with.

With his birthday being only 9 days before Christmas he can get overwhelmed with his new toys and so we only open a couple at a time, this way he does not get tired of them and it feels like he always has new stuff to play with.
