If Your Child Throws Tantrums (word count 521) At one point or another we have all experienced the tantrum of a child. It may have been a child in the local grocery store parking lot screaming or hitting out at an adult or child or a child crying hysterically in the toy store because they couldn't get exactly what they wanted. But what if your child throws tantrums on an almost daily basis? There are many scenarios and situations in which tantrums can occur. Every childs tantrum is not the same. One size fits all doesn't apply to tantrums. Some kids are eye rollers, screamers, criers, breath holders, throwers and more. While these tantrums are usually short lived, some parents experience this on an almost daily basis and this can be quite frustrating. Never knowing when your little Suzy or Billy is going to have a tantrum is enough to put any parent on edge. There are things you can do to help avoid tantrums. First you will want to make sure your child is well rested. If your child is sleepy they may be more susceptible to throwing a tantrum because they will already be cranky and irritated. Keep your child occupied, content and amused. If you know you have to go for a ride in the car, designate some special toys just for that purpose so your child has something to do. Crayons that will only color on certain paper is great too as they will not be able to color on the interior of the car but can create wonderful drawings. Make sure that your child isn't hungry or doesn't have to use the bathroom, these issues can also cause your child to be cranky and irritated. Keep a stash of small easy to eat and store, non messy snacks in the car like fruit snacks and granola bars. If your child is especially prone to tantrums you may want to bring an extra adult along to help out by keeping the child entertained. However under no circumstance do you ever want to give in to your child's demands under a tantrum because this teaches them that all they have to do is scream, stomp, shout, cry, hit or whatever else they do during their tantrum and they will get their way. Remember good behavior starts at home. Your child needs to know that there will be consequences for their behavior whether it is good or bad. Keep praising their good behavior and consistently punish them for their bad behavior so they know that it isn't acceptable. Your child will be less apt to throw a tantrum if they know that there will be consequences for their actions. You could remove a favorite toy for a few days, restrict television or even withhold a treat to help instill in your child that they need to behave to get the things they want that are not necessities. If your child throws tantrums, all is not lost. It is a phase that will pass with time if you establish a routine for handling the tantrum and stick to it. Eventually it will become a thing of the past. At one point or another we have all experienced the tantrum of a child. Today I thought I would share this post I found with you: 22 Activities for Busy Toddlers | Ideas to Keep Your Child Entertained

22 Activities for Busy Toddlers | Ideas to Keep Your Child Entertained

Even though Charlie is 4 almost 5 I found a lot of ideals from this post that I can do with him to help keep him busy.

He loves to build tents or forts and we do this at least once a week.

I can give him a empty box and he will play for hours.

 He loves bubbles as well.

We also do a lot of craft projects and I am thinking of covering the picnic table in the complex and letting him color as much or as little as he likes and if anyone wants to draw as well that is fine as we can use it to cover the walls in his bedroom.

If you have other ideals on how to keep a little one busy Please share them with me because I really need to buckle down and work and it is hard when I have to stop every few minutes to answer a question or to check and make sure he has not gotten into anything.
