After your little one learns the letter sounds, zero in on just the vowel sounds so he can hear the distinction between them. Then begin blending a consonant with all the vowels. Your student will learn 1) a left-right reading sequence, 2) how the vowels sound when blended with a letter, 3) that reading means to connect letters with their sounds and then to blend those sounds together. Before you know it, your little student will be reading three-letter words.
