The Escaping Super Mom!

The Escaping Super Mom!
It is no secret that moms have “special powers.” O.K. maybe they are not super human, but they do have to possess a special ability to dig deep to handle all the unique pressures that come with being a mom. With all the me, me, and more me’s that moms can hear all day long, sometimes moms just need to escape for a moment.
One form of escape is to either go to work or to work from home. Working from home can have several benefits to moms. Despite the obvious increase in monthly income, moms may feel a sense of belonging to the outside world. For some, this may help them feel more intelligent, invigorated and zestful in all they do. These positive feelings are sure to equate to real benefits inside the home.
Another form of escape (and my personal favorite) is to exercise. Whether you decide to join a gym or simply walk around your neighborhood, the benefits from exercise are enormous. While you will enjoy improved stress management and mental clarity your family will enjoy your improved mood and energy. These exercise side-effects can have dramatic results on the health of the family dynamic. Kids and husbands want to see a mom that is happy and energized. So why not create a win-win situation.
Furthermore, by taking time for exercise, you are planting the seeds in your children’s minds that exercise is important.  Reinforce this by incorporating exercise into family time. Here are a couple ideas that I personally have found success with getting my husband and kids involved.
  • Go on family walks
  • Volunteer to coach your child’s little league team
  • Try video games that encourage activity, I.E. Just dance and Wii Sports
  • Have a toddler sized basketball hoop inside the home.
  • Freeze dance
  • Family 5Ks
