Both my dad and I are avid book readers. Only I read Romances and he loves Westerns. So I am always on the lookout for new books and Authors for him to try out. As he has one Author he loves but he has passed away. So I will be purchasing Cattle King by L Ron Hubbard for my dad. If he likes this book then I know it will be OK to purchase other books he has written. If he does not care for it then I know not to as he would not read it.
Forged in the hot sun and sand of the Arizona desert, Chinook Shannon is as tough as they come—as steely-eyed and tall in the saddle as Randolph Scott.
But Chinook is far from home—in the north country of Montana—and facing a challenge as big as the territory itself.
Chinook’s got exactly twenty-four hours to find out who killed his grandfather and become the Cattle King.

Chinook’s got exactly twenty-four hours to find out who killed his grandfather and become the Cattle King.
Chinook Shannon arrived in Montana to find his 4,000 cattle dead, accidentally poisoned by cyanide. However Shannon was not the only one who had to deal with crooks in Montana.
HISTORICAL FACT
MONTANA
GOLD MINING & CROOKS
The Gilt Edge Mine in Montana was not only one of the first mines to use the poisonous cyanide (to extract the gold from the ore), but it also has a very interesting history.
Gilt Edge was a great success and produced gold bricks in abundance— ironically it also was a financial flop for the first 6 years!
The manager was Robert A. “Honest Bob” Ammon—a New York lawyer who was hording the gold and finally ran off (with the gold) in 1894.
So while you watch out for crooks, treat yourself to a royal good time as Cattle King for a Day carries you away to the rugged Montana of the Old West.
