Creative Steps {Review} #KarmaMedia

I am someone who loves magazines and can never stops buying them for myself. So now my son has started to pick up my habit and when we go to the stores he always wants to look at the magazines.

He loved car books but I have been showing him, there is all types of magazines he would like if he would take the time to look. So when the two books I got from Creative Steps came in I was so excited to sit down and share them with him.

We spent hours looking through them and deciding on things we can do. I can tell you these are a new favorite in our house. The covers of the books are so appealing and Charlie loves all the pictures that fill the inside of the books. I have even found him sitting down and reading them to his self which is nice.

Another feature of the book I like is that it shows items we can do for crafts in his school as I am going to start working with him on a daily basis as he can not attend school right now as he is too young.
One of my favorite projects that I saw was the Cling Film Painting as Charlie has been asking to paint everyday and so this will be something new we can do as a family.

Another feature I like, is that they offer a list of books I can get for Charlie and a lot of these are new and not ones I had heard of and so this will turn into a trip to the library for us, which is one of our favorite things to do.

Another site of the magazine I like is that the ads that are included are for things I can actually use with my son such as Tidy Books http://www.tidy-books.com as it would be neat to have a shelf in his room that he knows are his for his books and they would not be stacked in the closet which makes it hard to get to them.

Another thing I can say is if I was a teacher in a school or a day care is that I would want the staff to have these books in the supply room so we could all use them, as there is so many items in here that we would never have to wonder about what we would do with the children. I also like the fact that you can subscribe to them.

On Toby's Terms~ The Pet Therapy Dog~His Hospital Friends

Have you ever fallen in love at first sight?
That’s how it was for our dog Toby and I. Christopher, my husband, showed me Toby’s picture on the NASAP adoption website, and I saw this big happy face, gorgeous brown eyes and the biggest pink tongue I had ever seen, hanging out the right side of the dog’s mouth. It was love at first sight.
We applied for the adoption of Toby and were delighted to welcome Toby into our family. The first six months with Toby, who was five when we adopted him from a local rescue organization, were almost perfect.  Shortly thereafter, this seemingly perfect pet turned into quite the incorrigible dog breaking toilet tank lids, turning water taps on and routinely emptying closets and rearranging the furniture.
Getting Toby a job, a purpose helped us rechanneled his energy and put it to good use, spreading kindness and joy wherever he went, including the hospital where he volunteered for 4 ½ years as a pet assisted therapy dog. Toby became a teacher for us, teaching us about unconditional love, patience, persistence, not being a perfectionist and the importance of trusting your pet. Magic happened when we found Toby a job, a purpose, and worked with him to be the dog he needed to be instead of the dog I wanted him to be.
His story inspired me to write about his volunteer work which was chronicled in Chicken Soup for the Soul- what I learned from a dog. I then wrote On Toby’s Terms, (Bettie Youngs Books, 2010) which is currently in development to be a major motion picture. And, his new children’s book Toby The Pet Therapy Dog & His Hospital Friends, is the first in a series of children’s books .
This rescue dog who seemed to do everything possible to get returned to the shelter, had me at Woof!
