Mattel Power of Play Review

Today I took the time to sit down and read over the "Mattel Power of Play: website and video and I must say as a parent I learned quite a bit from it. My son is one of the ones who never wants to be inside the house. He is perfectly content in the courtyard at our apartment digging in the dirt all by himself.

Although we do play soccer and also football this makes me wonder how he will do in school when they have races and things. Will he want to do this or is he always going to want to play by himself. So after listening to this I did see some ways I can help him out with, such as setting up different game sections and also playing more with him, which I should be doing.

Plus even though he is only 4, I am going to teach him Rock Paper Scissors so when the other kids are outside and they get into a fight he can show them a healthy way to work through there problems. I just hope by the time he is in school they have not cut out recess. Which seems to be what a lot of schools are doing. For me this and lunch where my favorite part of the day.

I think that if this happens Charlie is not going to want to go to school.
Can you tell me does your child play outside?
If so for how long?
What do you do when there outside playing?

We usually go outside around 10 am and do not come back inside until around 6. There is times I am visiting with the neighbors or reading a book but I do have him grab the soccer ball and we play with it.

I also dig in the dirt with him and play cars a lot and we go for walks. The things I need to teach him is Red Rover and London Bridge and Tag as these are games I played as a child and even though he is young and may mess them up we can still try and this is what I do when we play cards. You see, I play Gold Fish with him and it is a challenge but we both learn from it. Another thing I should be doing when we are outside is working on our ABC's and our numbers so after watching the video I now have new things to do with my son.

So I would like to say Thank you to Mattel.
