Family visits and how parents treat kids differently.

This past weekend my brother brought my father here. As my brother was wanting to shop for Tax Free Weekend. So I was hopping my dad would help with some thing for Charlie, But he didn't do that. Now I could have asked him and he might have but I did not want to do that. So this made me miss my mom more than ever as she would have helped me with Charlie without me even asking.

But my sister has been working on her home the past couple weeks and so my dad has been giving her money to help pay the gentleman working on it. Now it would not bother me so much if she didn't work close to 99 hours in one week and make over $15 a hour.

Where David only makes $10.50 a hour and hasn't been getting overtime so we are struggling and my dad knows this. Plus he was in our home and we had mentioned we needed to finish painting and needed 2 gallons of paint to be able to finish and we haven't been able to even afford that.

Did my dad offer to get it for us? No, of course not. All he did was take us out to dinner which was nice and paid for it. But I would have rather had more time with him. As he was not feeling well so he slept most of the day on Saturday at my sisters house. So my brother stayed over there and we didn't get to visit with him much either.

Then on Sunday they spent the morning with my sister and came by my house for about 20 minutes before they went out to my Nephews as they was leaving from there. So all I can say is I thank God my brother did bring my dad as he is going down hill fast. But it would have been nice to be able to spend some real time with him.

So it seems like it may be time for Charlie and I to take a Road Trip to Oklahoma to see my dad as well as my Aunt and Uncle. Because as we all know no one lives forever and Charlie needs to see his family and to spend time with them. Even though my dad is not always the nicest and doesn't treat us all the same he is still my dad.

Wordless Wednesday: Build a Refurbished Garden Out of Tires.

Look at the Garden! What do you think of it? What would you put in it??

Olivewood Gardens Tire Planters

David and I have been talking about making me a Garden in the yard but with the kids and dogs that play in it he is afraid they will mess up my plants. So he has decided to get some tires from his dad and plant my flowers inside them. Which I think will be awesome. So Charlie and I have been thinking of what color to paint them. I was thinking of just using red, white and blue as Charlie loves red and white.

But I like purple and Suzzane liked pink and my sister likes green. So I decided to search online and went to Pinterest where I found the tires above and they are all different colors and they look so cute that I think Charlie and I will just do this. As we can have a beautiful Rainbow in the year.

As for David I am not sure what he will say about it. But he will just have to leave us alone as he has said the yard is mine and Charlies and we can do what we want to. So I can not wait for his dad to drop the tires off and for us to be able to start painting them. Because besides painting them a color we can even draw designs on them to make them stand out even more.

\Once we are done if they turn out OK I may give one or two to my sister and mother n law for Christmas. As we would not have to spend money on Gifts other than the paint. Plus it would be something Charlie and I made together. So if something ever happens to use they would have something we made them.

What do you think of the tires? Would you use them in your Garden? If not why not? If you did what color or colors would you pain them and why did you decide on those colors?

Plus I also found this cute Frog and as much as Charlie loves Frogs I thought it would be cute to make to put along side our Garden. Only I am sure Charlie will want a boy Frog not a Girl grog so we might end up with a whole frog family. Which could be fun and a whole lot of fun to make.

Aqua Dance Handheld 7 Setting Showerhead

Giveaway Services has sent my family the Aqua Dance Handheld 7 Setting Showerhead in exchange for a review. But even thought I received the Aqua Dance 7 Setting Showerhead for free all the thoughts in the review are mine and my families.

We have a Garden Tub in our home as well as two showers. So since David and I had been working on remolding the house we knew we wanted to purchase a new Showerhead. But the question was what kind should we get and where from.

So once I was on Giveaway Services and saw they was looking for reviews on the Aqua Dance Handheld 7 Setting Showerhead I knew I had to apply. So I did and boy oh boy am I ever glad I did. As it is wonderful!!

Once it came in I decided to see if I could put it together myself and surprise David but since I am so short I had to stand on a chain inside the Shower and David heard me moving the chair and got up to see why. So once he saw what I was doing he decided he would help me. But he said you will have to wait I have to get my tools. So the nice part was telling him no, you do not need tools!! As it meant he would be able to do it right then and I would not have to wait weeks.

So he got busy installing it and it only took about 5 minutes. We did read the instructions but he says it was so easy to install that he would have been able to put up the Aqua Dance Handheld 7 Shower Setting even without the instructions. Which was nice because things like that end up lost a lot of times in this house.

Once it was installed and he turned it on so we could see all the different settings I knew I would have to fight to get into the Shower as Charlie would not want to ever get out. But what I did not think about was David and he would be the same way. So once David left for work and Charlie went outside to play I climbed into the Shower.

I liked how the showerhead can hang on the hook or you can take it down to hold and wash your body. As this will make giving the dogs a bath much easier. I tried out all of the settings and I must tell you I feel in love with each of them and I can not wait to purchase another one for the Guest Bathroom.

Do you have a child in your home who loves to cook? Then I think you should check out this discount. As I know Charlie would love it. He has taken cooking classes in the past and misses being able to. So even David and I are thinking of checking into it. Dawn Escapes Thai Dragon Fruit

David is the one who usually does the dishes as I am always working on the blog. Because he works at night and it free's me up to take care of Charlie making dinner and doing homework. So he loves Dawn Dish Washing soap and will just walk into the store and grab one. David does not care what color it is or how it smells. Now I am sure this is how men are. But it drives me BATTY!!!

As I am one who walks into the store and up to the aisle and I walk up and down looking for new products we have not tried. Or for a certain color that appeals to me. Or a certain scent I would like to try out.

Once I find something I open it and smell it. Because if it has no scent at all or has a soap scent I put it back and keep looking until I find one that I like. So know I have Charlie doing the same thing. Which drives David up the wall as it takes us twice as long to shop. But to me it is fun.

So the other day when we was in Kroger's David said we needed more dish washing soap so off Charlie and I go to find one we wanted to try out. David asked for something from Dawn. So Charlie and I looked and found a pretty purple/pink one called Thai Dragon. Which Charlie wanted to try as it is the color I like and it has the name dragon in the title.

So then I opened it to smell it and I liked the way it smelled. I had Charlie do the same thing as I want him to start helping with the dishes. Charlie says it smells nice. That it is not overpowering or a girly scent which is what he calls flower names and scents.

Once we got home David made a sink full of water for him and Charlie to clean the dishes in. It did not take much of the Dawn at all to fill the sink full of bubbles that smelled nice. Not overpowering and the scent did not bother any of us. We all liked it a lot.

I liked knowing it last 2x longer that other dish soaps. Plus it gets the pans squeaky clean and your hands are not greasy nor the dishes. I have even used it to clean the Stove with and it did a wonderful job on it. I caught Charlie washing his hair in it and once he was done it was soft and smelled so good.

All in all Dawn Escapes Thai Dragon Fruit makes me feel like I am escaping when I wash the dishes. This product from Dawn is something we will purchase again as we all liked it. It worked wonderfully and it helped us save money.

Charlie and Summer Reading

Last year Charlie has a little bit of trouble in school with not only his reading but his writing. So this Summer I wanted to make sure he spent time on both of it. As he will be in 2nd grade and since he did not get a good teacher last year. I wanted to make sure he was ahead this year. Just encase we end up with a teacher that does not send the items home children need.

So as I was browsing online to find things for Charlie to do I found a blog called Making Time for Mommy and I am so glad I did as she had a list of places to find Summer Reading. So Charlie and I have been working through her list and it is helping.

As Charlies reading is improving every day. Now if I could get David to join in we might be able to improve his reading as well. But I can tell you even though he says he would like to get better he will not join us in these programs. But I would as I love to read.

I have always had my daughter and I join the Summer Library reading program when she was here. So I do the same thing with Charlie. Who is so funny as he will walk into the library and clean off a whole shelf and bring all the books home and have them read in just a couple days.

So if you would like to find out about some of the Summer Reading Programs going on you can by visiting Making Time for Mommy at http://www.makingtimeformommy.com/2015/05/06/free-summer-reading-programs-for-kids
If you do check out Making Time for Mommy let me know what you found on her blog that you enjoyed.

Making Time For Mommy

As I want to also read her 2015 Summer Bucket list for families. As I am sure there will be things on it I can do with Charlie and David. That we may never have thought of doing.

Charlie loves Despicable Me and the Minions

But if I must confess I do as well. David likes knowing there is one called Dave. I just like the purple one and also the one in the Hawaiian outfit. I just think there should be a girl. But Charlie and David do not think so. As for Charlie he loves all of them and every movie that is out about them.

He has curtains in his room with them on it. Plus stickers. Then last night while walking around Targets we ended up in the school supply aisle and David and Charlie found a note book and also a Crayon Bag. I found a lunch kit and back pack. So know we know which items Charlie wants for school. Shopping will be easier and faster.

Next is school clothes and I bet you half of them have Minions on them as well. If not I am going to be totally surprised. As we can not walk into any store without him stopping at the Shirts to see if there is new Minion T Shirts.

Charlie is also counting down to his Birthday and has already picked out the Minion cake and cupcakes he wants for his Birthday. Plus I have found some Minions I want to get him for his Birthday. Including the Fart Gun.

All three of us are counting down to when the Movie comes out and we have already decided we will have to purchase it on DVD without even seeing it. As I know Charlie will want to add it to his collection. As he has the other two movies and watches them over and over and over.

So today I would like to share with you a fun Craft I found on The Latest Musings which is called How To Make Minion Puppets as I know Charlie would love them. Plus we can make them for the Goody Bags I will be handing out at his Birthday party.

The Story of Marine Hero Lucca by Maria Goodavage

I love books about animals as well as movies. So when I saw Top Dog by Maria Goodavage on another blog I knew it would be a book I would enjoy reading. As my daughter Suzzane had a
German Shepard when she was killed. His name was Sam Tigger Ice and he was the best dog ever. So reading this book will be both bittersweet but nice. As it will make me miss Suzzane and Sam a lot more. But it will also give me new memories as I can share the book with David and Charlie.

Live Happy Review

This is a review for a magazine titled Live Happy that I was sent to read. Before I share my thoughts with you I would like to let you know that I was sent one copy for free but that the thoughts in this review are all mine and my families. Not anyone else.

As you can see from the Cover the stories inside are appealing to people of all ages. I love the colors they used on the cover. As well as the title as it catches your eye. The people on it look so happy that you can not do anything but smile. Which I like a lot as I have been down this past week.

Once I was able to sit down and thumb through the magazine I found so many stories I wanted to read that I could not decide which one to read first. But I finally picked "Stan the Man" and I love it so much. I can not wait to look up "Stan the Man" and see what has happened to him in the years that have passed.

There is so many motivational quotes inside the book that fit both me and my family. As well as a lot of my friends. So I am anxious to share "Live Happy" with everyone I know. I also hope you will do the same and not only check out the magazine for yourself but share it with your friends and family as well!!

If you love to try out new and different recipes you should check out page 27 where I found a recipe for Summer Squash, Herb and Feta Salad. As it looks so "YUMMY"!! It would make a perfect addition to any Summer gathering!!!

I also like inside my "Live Happy" is a card where I can order the magazines so I will never miss out on one. I will be asking David if I can subscribe to them and I hope you do as well. As you will truly enjoy this magazine from cover to cover.

Displaying 20150629_153544.jpg

Once you get your magazine make sure and check out there website at: http://store.livehappy.com as there is items for men, women and kids. For myself I would love to order a T Shirt in pink that says "Count Your Blessings" as this is something we should do every day of the week.

For Charlie I would love this shirt as I always tell him I am a "Happy Camper". Plus it has my favorite type of van on it. So I know Charlie would like it a lot. Plus it would be different from all the other kids which I like. Because it seems everything Charlie has most of the other kids ends up with and I want him to stand out. Which he would do with this shirt.

So as you can tell "Live Happy" is a magazine not only did I enjoy but both David and Charlie as well. As I had them sit down and look through it and they found stories they would not mind reading. Which was nice as it gave us something to do as a family.
Displaying 20150629_153657.jpg

If you have not had a chance to check out "Live Happy" I hope you take the time to check them out not only online but in your local store. If they are not in your store ask the manager to order them for you as they will. Or do like my family is and subscribe to "Live Happy" and you will not have to worry about ever missing a issue.

Bahama Beach Waterpark makes a lazy Sunday "Family FUN!!

David and I have always tried to keep Sunday's for "Family time" not that we are always able to. But this week we did and we had some fun surprising Charlie!! Because the rest of the week David works nights and is not able to spend a lot of time with us. Plus Saturdays are our errand day or my work day. So Sunday is the only day we have together to have fun!!

Displaying 20150628_135310.jpg

So this Sunday I surprised AJ and Charlie with tickets to Bahama Beach Water Park in Dallas, Texas.

Displaying 20150628_132044.jpg
So before I begin my review I would like to let you know I was given 4 complimentary passed to the park by Richard Sharnsky Jr. Manager 11 Aquatic Services Dallas Park and Recreation Park. The passes was given to my family for free. But the thoughts in the review are all my families and no one else.

So this morning I got up and went with my Mother n Law to work out at the pool we usually go to during the week. While David got things ready for us to head to Bahama Beach Water Park. I left Charlie and AJ asleep and David was going to get them up and have them take a bath and eat breakfast. So once I returned we could leave.

So as soon as I returned home Charlie and AJ meet me at the door asking what we was going to do today. As David told them we had a surprise for them. But we could not tell them until we got there. So Charlie tells AJ we are going to the Pool my mom works out at. David and I just kinda snickered and walked away so they would not suspect anything.

So we all grab things to load in the car. Then AJ runs home to let his parents know we are leaving. Which I am so happy Charlie was able to bring AJ as his parents do not have the money to do things with there kids. So this was a nice outing for AJ.

Once on the road we found some old Rock and Roll and just sang along with the Radio as Charlie and AJ tried to guess where we was going. Once we hit the freeway and Charlie saw we was going away from the Pool he was completely stumped.

So David keeps driving as the Pool is about 45 minutes from us. I thought the boys might get tired of riding and start to fuss but they did not. As they played some games in the car and just chatted with each other. Which I enjoyed as they was making up stories about where we might be going.

Once we got close to the Pool David and I had them close there eyes. As soon as we pulled into the Parking Lot I asked them to open there eyes and all I heard was "man on man" that "looks so cool" and "I wish we could go inside". So David drove up to the front and asked us to get out. Which we did and I went and got into the line. It was pretty long which I thought would drive the boys up the wall but it didn't.

Once we got the tickets we went to get into the line to get in as I did not realize Richard had emailed me to pick the tickets up at the gate. So I had David walk up front since we did not have a cooler and ask if we had to wait in the line. Richard was at the gate and let us right in. I was so surprised to find out they had set a covered table aside for us. It was nice as it was big enough for us to share with some other people that came in. But when we go back I will make sure and reserve a table as we can host a guest join us as there is enough room for over 20  people.

Once we got everything on the table I asked David to put Sunscreen on Charlie before we went to the pools as he is so white and I knew he would end up Sunburned. Once David finished with Charlie I used it. I even sprayed Davids bald head which he was not to happy about. But we have to protect the ones we love!!

So then it was off to have some fun. Charlie and David headed straight for Calypso Cooler- Lazy River   which I loved as it makes losing weight fast and easy. As I can walk inside there and it does not hurt my ankle or knee. Charlie and AJ loved it as they could use Innertubs inside it. David liked it as he says it helped him relax. http://www.bahamabeachdallas.com/132/Calypso-Cooler---Lazy-River

Once we could pull the boys out of here we went over to the little kids area as it had so much to do  that I knew they would find something in there they would like. Plus Charlie is still small enough to get inside there. So they played on the slides which both of them said they loved a lot. If you would like to check out Coconut- Cove you can by following this link http://www.bahamabeachdallas.com/131/Coconut-Cove

Displaying 20150628_132524.jpg

The next place the boys wanted to check out was the Bermuda-Triangle but Charlie was a tad to short. So AJ was able to do it by himself. Which upset Charlie but I was able to appease him when I told him we could wait a week or two and then go back out as by then he just might be tall enough to ride it as Charlie is growing like a weed,
http://www.bahamabeachdallas.com/133/Bermuda-Triangle

The next section AJ and Charlie wanted to check out was the Riptide-SlideBahama_Bullet and let me tell you the line was pretty long but it did not take them long for there turn to come and them be able to ride the Slides. Once they both did they was hooked and it was like pulling teeth getting them off them to go and check out the other areas of the park. http://www.bahamabeachdallas.com/134/Riptide-Slide-Bahama-Bullet

Once I saw the Tortuga-Express slide I feel in love and wanted to check it out. But the way my knee is I did not try and climb the stairs. But I wish I had. I am so surprised David did not try it out. But he has been having trouble with his Heart so we let the boys go on there own and they loved it. Once at the top and it became there turn they flew right down to the bottom and before I could ask them if they liked the slide they was headed back up to the top of it. So I knew they loved it and it was a hit as well. If you would like to see what the Riptide-SLide-Bahama-Bullet looks like Please check out this link http://www.bahamabeachdallas.com/135/Tortuga-Express

Displaying 20150628_132432.jpg

While Charlie and AJ was on the Tortuga-Express David and I checked out the Water Wars and if it had been working I would have made David do it with me as it looked like so much fun. Plus it would have been fun to do with Charlie and AJ. So once we return I hope it is working as I plan on taking the men DOWN!! If you would like to see what the Water Works looks like and how it works you can check it out at: http://www.bahamabeachdallas.com/136/Water-Wars

Displaying 20150628_134646.jpg

Once David and I was able to walk around the park we found some grills and they was grilling Hamburgers and Hot dogs. Which smelled so good. The next time we go I am going to order me at least one Hamburger. As for David and Charlie they can also order some or they can check out the restaurant or bring there own lunch that is up to them. But I know I am getting me a Hamburger and I am not sharing it with anyone!!

So if you take the time to visit Bahama Beach Water Park check out the Gift Shop and the First Aid Station so if someone if your party is hurt you will know where to go. Because I checked them both out and found them to be well stocked.

So all in all today was a successful visit and next year I may invest in Water Park passes for us so we can visit anytime we want to. Plus I noticed the host Birthday Parties there and I just might have Davids there next month as both him and Charlie would enjoy it a lot.

Are you like David and I trying to figure out what to do on the Fourth of July? If so Bahama Beach Waterpark will be open and they are having one dollar hot dogs that day!! So come on out!!

KinderGlo Dragon Review

Have you heard of Kinderglo? If not I would like to invite you to check out there website at: http://kinderglo.com/store as I was sent one of there Nightlights a Dragon to try out and review. Before I share my thoughts with you I would like to know I received the product for free. But the thoughts in the review are all mine and my families.

Dragon Night Light

First I would like to apoligize to Kinderglo as I do not have the Dragon I was sent to review. As we had gotten it back in December but I had to take some time off. Due to some personal issues. While I was off we painted the house and packed up a lot of the items and I have not been able to get into my office to unpack it.

But I gave the Nightlight to Charlie for Christmas as I knew he did not like sleeping in his bed without a light. Plus like his sister Suzzane he loved Dragons. So the first night he got it Charlie received the Dragon he carried it everywhere with him.

He even took it outside as it got Dark and sat it down next to him while he played in the yard. It put off just enough light for Charlie to play cars without bothering anyone. Once his friends saw it they wanted the Dragon but Charlie would not give it to them. He did not even want them to pick it up. As he was afraid they would mess it up.

But once I explained to him the Dragon was made of plastic and would not break he let them hold it. As well as turn it on and off. All the kids in the neighborhood loved it and asked if they could show there parents. Once they did I heard a lot of the parents tell the kids they would think about getting them one as well.

The Nightlight is not only good for children but infants and adults as well. I plan on purchasing several of them this year for Christmas as I know my Niece and Nephew would like one. As well as my Niece Lily that is due any day now. I am even thinking of getting it for her Baby Shower so her mom has it to use in the Nursery. This way she would not have to turn on the overhead light at night when she checks on Lily.

Knowing they are rechargeable is great because as much as we will use ours we would spend a fortune in Batteries. Which means David would shoot us. As Batteries are so expensive. Plus right when Charlie or I wanted to use the Nightlight the Batteries would not work.

As someone that hates Storms and I can use this in place of Candles and Lighters as it will stay on for up to 8 to 10 hours. Knowing there is a timer and it will go off in 30 minutes is also a plus. Because it gives Charlie enough time to fall asleep.

I can see Day Cares using Kinderglo during Nap Time in the little kids rooms as it is calming.

There is a couple other Nightlights from Kinderglo I would like to get and one is the Angel in Memory of my daughter Suzzane to put in the bathroom. So anyone who goes in at night will have a light to use. As well as the Owl for my office in memory of my mom. Who collected Owls when I was a child and is now also gone.

Owl Night Light         Angel Night Light

Now this is our Secret so do not tell David but I also may have to have the Elephant as I love love love Elephants and collect them!!

Elephant Night Light

So if my friends and family are listening my Birthday and Christmas is coming up and I would love to have my very own Kinderglo Nightlight. Not that I would get to keep it as I am sure Charlie would kidnap it. But I could have it for a few minutes!!

Denton Natatorium and Water Works Park

Denton Natatorium and Water Works Park

Charlie, David and I are Blessed again this year to be able to visit Denton Natatoruim and Water Parks. As well as take a friend Aidan with us. Aidan has never been able to visit a Water Park and is so excited he can not sit still.

As for Charlie we have been visiting water parks since he was a baby. But if I can say this
Denton Water Works is our favorite place to visit as they can play outside and if they get to hot we can go inside as there is a inside pool and slide as well.

Now I live in Haltom City so it is a little bit of a drive to get there but it is OK as we can bring our lunches and stay all day which I like. Because besides the Water Park is a Skate Park which Charlie also likes to play at. Plus as we drive into Denton I am able to see new businesses I want to go back and visit.

So this allows all of my family and friends something to do and we do not hear I am bored or I want to go home. All I hear is "aww mom" is it time to leave. Just 5 more minutes. Or can we come back tomorrow. So I know it has been a huge hit. I hope one day to be able to purchase Season Passes for us but until that time we will have tomorrow to remember.

And Charlie will have something to work toward and save his money for because if he really wants to come back he needs to work for the money. Which I like as this teaches him responsibility and he learns that not everything is handed to him on a Silver Platter!!

So be watching tomorrow for our adventures at Denton Water Works and what all the boys get into. Also be watching to see what we can get David to do while in the park. Plus you might even see me in the pool. But do not tell anyone as I hate having my pictures taken as I am as big as a "whale" but I am working to change that. So next year if we are able to come back you will see a new and better me!!!!

In the meantime check out Denton Water Parks here and let me know what you think of it. If you have been there let me know what your favorite part is and if you have not been but would like to attend let me know why!!

Summer Fun through Alley Cats in Arlington, Texas

Alley Cats Family Entertainment Center

David and I are always looking for fun and inexpensive things to do with Charlie in the Summer. So one of the first things I look for is "free bowling" as I know local Bowling Allies usually offer children free games in the Summer. So this year Charlie and I will be signing up to play at Alley Cats as they have so much to offer not only children but parents as well.

Plus I can work while there as they have a nice snack bar and comfortable tables and chairs. So while David and Charlie are off doing there things I can either sit back and read or browse the internet. Or if I feel like it I can even work.

So today I wanted to share a couple specials with you from Alley Cats as I was thinking if my family enjoyed them then you and yours might as well. If you have been to Alley Cats share your experience with us. If you have not been but plan on going let me know. Or if you are going to check it out come back and share your thoughts with us as I would like to know what others think of Alley Cats.

BabyComfyNose Nasal Aspirator Boogers Be Gone!!!

When Charlie ends up sick time and time I have heard him say "BOOGERS BE GONE!! With BabyComfyNose Nasal Aspirator this is what happens when we use it!!

http://www.usfamilyguide.com/blogpromos/145/leaderboard_babycomfynose-leaderboard.png

If you've ever used a bulb or battery-type aspirator to clear the mucus out of your little one's nose, you've probably said to yourself: "There has to be a better way!" Well, we just found a better way and it's called the BabyComfyNose Nasal Aspirator. Here's the secret: It works so much better because it uses your own suction. Think about it: your own lungs are a strong, natural vacuum cleaner - much more powerful than a tiny bulb or battery-powered motor. And the result is just a more effective method of clearing your baby's sinuses.

But have no fear; you won't suck boogies into your mouth because of the design of the receptacle and the tissue filter that you insert into the body of the aspirator. This is why pediatricians are recommending BabyComfyNose to moms and dads. Recently, Dr. Sears of The Doctors TV Show recommended the BabyComfyNose as the best way to clear babies' noses. Take a look at the video 'How to Use the BabyComfyNose' here www.babycomfycare.com to see how well it works. Enter USFAMILY at checkout for a 20% discount.
