Summer of Love and It's Raining Men!!

As a young lady in high school I became hooked on reading and some of the books I always would read was Harlequin as they did not have anything bad in it that my parents would not want me to read. But then I became tired of them for some reason. Which lead me to novels. But over the years I have watched Harlequin add more and more lines and Authors to there books that I am sure one day I will go back to reading them. As I always find new ones that look interesting.

So today if you have not read a Harlequin I would like to share 4 new books they have out with you. As each of them looks like a fun Summer read. If you do read Harlequin come and share with me what you like about the books. If you do not read them come and let us know why not

Alphabet Zoo is a personalized book I received for a review.

If you have not had a chance to check out the site called  Little Heroes at  http://www.littleheroes.com/ and you have small children or you are a teacher you should as the books they carry are awesome. I was sent Alphabet Zoo from them and I must tell you it has become one of Charlies favorite books as it has not only him inside it but his Aunt Debbie and Cousin David. These are 2 of his most favorite people in the world and so I knew this would make a nice Gift for Charlie. Once it arrived I sat down and read it to both Charlie and David and they both where surprised to find out that it had them both in it. When I was reading it I noticed at the top of every page the letter we would be learning so the next time I read it to Charlie I am going to point the letters out and have him right them at the same tine as it will be good practice for him. Showing him his name in the book has helped him with learning to spell. This has made teaching him easier and I would use these books with anyone I home schooled as it not only teaches reading but also writing. When we where reading Alphabet Zoo there was animals in here I did not know and so David and I as well as Charlie took the time to look them up on the internet. Which was fun as we where all able to learn things together. So even though this is a children's book it taught David and I both something. Here is where you can check out there line of personalized preschool learning books
Alphabet Zoo book link: (http://www.littleheroes.com/personalized-preschool-learning-books-toddlers/)
If you are still looking for items for the children on your Christmas Gift list Please check out there site at:
personalized ABC books for toddlers : (http://www.littleheroes.com/personalized-preschool-learning-books-toddlers/) as it will help you teach the children if your life there alphabet.

We take literacy very seriously and believe the earlier you start, the better. So we created a new book series covering the ABC, numbers and colors for the youngest generation of Little Heroes. Alphabet Zoo is the first of our new three-book series for toddlers.

What's the story?

When a Little Hero takes a trip to the zoo, he finds himself on an exciting ABC hunt. Helped by family and friends, the Little Hero learns about animals and the alphabet along the way! Comical rhymes and cute zoo characters create a fun learning adventure!

What can you personalize?

Name. Hair. Eyes. Skin tone. Clothes. Glasses. Everything but the kitchen sink!

Stay tuned for our next preschool learning books, One Toy Two (numbers) and A Color A Day (colors), due out December 2012 - January 2013.

I have  two soft covers for two winners and the Alphabet Zoo can be for either boys or girls. If you would like to win one of the books Please do the following task. I will need a valid email to reach you at. You must leave a separate comment for each thing you do.

I liked the set as it came with several different books and so I could break them down into different days so it seemed like he was getting mail more than just once. He even liked the paper that they wrapped it in as he likes green.

Today is Monday This one was fun to read and to try to explain to Charlie as he is trying to learn the days of the week and gets confused but at least with this book he was willing to try.

Many Colored Days This one would have been Suzzane's favorite as she Loved Dr. Seuss not so much mine as I was tired of his books as Suzzane and my nephew had me read them a thousand times. But it did allow me to share Suzzane with Charlie and this was so nice.

I Love to not only read to Charlie but for us also to do crafts and with his parents living out of state I think it would be nice to read him the following stories and have him use these items to make some letters for my parents as they could hang them up and see the kinds of things we are doing when we miss him.

Promote Literacy and Open Up a Whole World of Possibilities - Pretty Opinionated - StumbleUpon

Mommies Point of View is now featuring one day a week where we will feature videos of stories for you to share with your child. Or a music video or a art and craft project. As I have noticed since I started blogging that I am not spending enough time with my son. So to help combat this once a week I am turning my blog over to my son Charlie and we will do what he wants. If he wants to listen to music then this is what we will do. If he decides he wants to make a part project I will find one we can all do together and I will have a linky where we can link up our projects. Or if it is a day when he wants to cook you will find us in the kitchen sharing what we are cooking. I think this way I am getting back to roots of my blog and sharing more of myself and my family as it had started to be all adds and events and this is not what I had wanted it to be when I started it. So lets try one more time to start over and Please let me know how you think I am doing.

In the meantime I wanted to share the following link with you as Literacy is such a important subject in my home as a lot of you know my husband can not read and I do not want Charlie to be that way. As his sister also struggled with it. So to show him it is fun to read I am joining in this program and I hope some of my readers will as well.

If you do and you would like to form a reading club let me know and we can all vote on a children's book to read once a week and discuss with each other and we can share pictures of us reading with our children and draw pictures of the stories we are reading and once a month I will give one children's book from Usborne Books away. If you have not checked out there books Please do and why there enter to win $50.00 in free books Usborne Books

Thanks,
Glenda and Charlie

Outdo Yourself Challenge

Reading Challenge: Out do Yourself Reading Challenge 2012 Glenda commited to read 50 books

First participated in the Book Vixen's Outdo Yourself Challenge last year and it was a smashing succes! I read 169 books! woohoo :-D So this year let's aim for at least 170 ;-)

You can read the rules and sign up here, but basically the challenge is a personalised one: you challenge yourself to outdo your own reading performance of 2011, so no external pressure: if you read 12 books in 2010 you could set the goal to read 15 in 2011, do it at your own pace, just read.

The Importance of Education - Guest post by Ella Johnson

We as parent know that Education is a fundamental human right. Our children and every child in the world are entitled to it. Education is not only important but critical to our children’s development as individuals. Development leads to a successful future and we must ensure that our children must have a quality education. If the child doesn’t have the basic of comprehension in reading, it can slow down or hinder his or hers’ learning in all subjects. Reading is the fundamental skill of all learning.
It is never too soon to start your child on the path to reading. That is why Memorable Children Books & Gifts is committed to offering basic tools like Giggles Computer Funtime for Babies ages 6 – 36 months. Babies learn about and play with shapes, colors, animals, letters, numbers and more! All in different fun-filled and uniquely baby friendly environments – all they have to do is touch any key on the keyboard! Each title includes 14 unique key-tapping activities and over 50 wonderful songs!
We like to put our children in front of the television to watch their favorite shows like Disney Princess, Cars, Winnie the Pooh, Elmo and Friends, Dora the Explorer and many more. So why not read to them their favorite shows by personalizing a book with their name in it to make reading more fun for the child.
According to the U.S Department of Education, “Research shows that children who read well in the early grades are far more successful in later years; and those who fall behind often stay behind when it comes to academic achievement. Reading opens the door to learning about math, history, science, literature, geography and much more. Thus, young, capable readers can succeed in these subjects, take advantage of other opportunities (such as reading for pleasure) and develop confidence in their own abilities. On the other hand, those students who cannot read well are much more likely to drop out of school and be limited to low-paying jobs throughout their lives. Reading is undeniably critical to success in today's society.”
Reading to children is crucial and parents should find time to read with their children instead of leaving it to the kid’s teachers. Don’t forget that reading out loud exposes children to proper grammar and phrasing. It helps to enhance the development of their spoken language skills and their ability to express themselves verbally.
